It's not fun and is certainly not due to Corona. Unfriendly staff, orders come to the table very differently, some only on request. The Frankfurter Kranz was the worst I've ever eaten. The ice cream tasted old and tough.
ok
Not to be recommended! Our ham and mushroom pizza was not good at all. Almost no ham and no mushrooms, but cheese without end. Cheap cheese that just tasted disgusting. In addition, the pizza was covered with a film of fat ... staff was okay. Could be a little friendlier and more professional. I cannot recommend this pizzeria!
Loved the pasta, the pizzas 🍕 are huge
About 2 weeks ago I had ''pleasure'' to be customer of this restaurant. Myself&my partner came into the place and straight away were asked about what to order. As we do not speak German, it took us a little while to explain that we're here only for coffee&cake. The waitress commented on something (she was not German too and said something in her own language) and told us to sit at the nearest table. Then, the waiter approached us and asked again what we want to order - we kindly said we need a minute to study the menu (no one could speak English). Basically we were told to look at the counter with the cakes, no one bothered to offer anything. When he came back, we were not ready to order yet but I started ordering (in my poor German) and we were taking some time because of the language barrier and suddenly, the waiter said agressively: come on, schnell and, I guess, hurry up cause I also have other customers (all in German but could understand a little). I felt like I was punched in my face, never experienced such rudeness in any restaurant, no matter how busy they are. I said, in English, that the customer service is non acceptable and horrible so thank you very much and the waiter was being ironic and commenting loudly: ja ja and something else, turned his back and left. We went to another place, with young German staff and was brilliant (so much busier). The Wanniger's place is so unfriendly and rude, especially when you're foreigner, do not even bother checking it out.
The food was all - there were six - according to expectations. Unfortunately, the mood among the boss and the staff seems to be suffering a lot. Unfortunately, the fact that you don't touch the top of the glasses that the guest sips at was not part of the training of the staff. Nevertheless: in contrast to many other Oberammergau restaurants with traditional names, the food was not a messed up tourist food, but rather decent pizza and pasta. We won't come any more.
The food was delicious and served quickly. Also, the boss (and the other staff) was very nice.
Ate pizza. Was very good. Pizza was bigger than the plate.
We were there in August, the service was very harsh and unfriendly, the food came close to inedible. Pizza with salami, ham and bacon had 2 mini slices of salami on it. When asked, I got a very angry answer: "It's normal, it's always like this"! Okay, I know different. The table decoration is a dusty flower arrangement made of "ladies tights flowers" on plastic stems, from 1970. So NOT to be recommended, is not worth the money!
We wanted to have something to eat quickly with our little son and since all the tables were occupied, except for a small table for two in the blazing sun, we decided to sit down at the table for two if we could rather sit at the table in the shade, we were told very rudely that this is a table for 4 people and that we are only 2. Our child was not included. But the fact that 2 elderly people were sitting at exactly the table of four in front of the condition did not matter. So I've never seen anything like that before. Unfriendly until it stops ...
Unfortunately, rarely eaten as badly as in Café Wanninger. After an extensive hiking tour, IM Café has returned. Two of us ordered the Wanninger platter for two people ... This dish is more than advisable! The spaetzle is lukewarm, warmed up and completely over "pepper". And the rest of the individual meat side dishes also more than laberign and just warmed up. After a friendly hint that the food was not very successful, the staff brought the bill and billed badly! A shame and the whole thing completely overpriced, not recommended!
Were there for dinner on 08/24. Pasta was okay, neither bad, nor particularly good, and unfortunately a little little. My wife could have eaten a bit afterwards and wanted a Kaiserschmarrn for dessert, the waiter then said that dessert would take at least 30 minutes because there were so many guests ... he clearly didn't want us to have anything else to order. My pizza was very good and also very big. However, many guests after us had to wait a long time for the pizza because there was so much going on. However, you have to consider that the Corona restaurant was not fully occupied at all, only every 2nd table inside was occupied. Overall, the service was not good and unfortunately not exactly friendly. The service was overwhelmed. We wouldn't go back.
No star. The roast pork tasted musty and the knuckle was tough. The red cabbage was cold on both dishes.
We visited this restaurant today. Delicious cake as if baked at home. The restaurant is very clean.
Food was great unfortunately the service leaves something to be desired! Otherwise the price for this region is great
Ambience is okay, very quiet. A bit of quiet music would have been nice, however. Food wasn't good. Very loveless and tasteless. Partly bland and not flavorful. Service overwhelmed, you always have to wait a long time. We waited 20 minutes for the bill. Was very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Delicious food and friendly service
The service was friendly and the food was very good in a decent portion size. There were no long waiting times. We will come back!
Very disappoint. Was there for the first time today. Yes, all tables in the outside area were occupied. + I like coffee - no hello from the waitress - Waitress does not adhere properly to regional hygiene regulations (mouth / nose cover belongs over the mouth and nose) - I didn't like cherry strudel, it was extremely heavy. It's also a shame that there is no cream or ice cream with it, as is usual, it could taste much better. I wanted to reorder first, but after 10 minutes I changed my mind because it wasn't available. - When my parents went to the toilet, the waitress said only - the toilet is only for guests, please go somewhere else. But she could not remember that we are guests. We will not visit this restaurant / coffee again!
Visit on July 20, 2020. Staff totally overwhelmed. Waited 20 minutes to place an order. After another 1 hour and 15 minutes, the food was not even in the works. In addition, no waiter wears a face mask. No hygiene regulations observed. Many guests left without receiving the food they ordered.
The food here it’s really good I can’t say anything, And the pizza it’s a bomb really big About the service I can’t say that they are doing the job good, and haw fast they can And sure don’t forget to taste the cakes 👌
I want an extra bowl, the waiter doesn't give it and then said I have to add money. Nevertheless, I paid a tip. Unsatisfied!
Excellent place to have a good pizza and an excellent Weiss beer!!
Small Café and Restaurant with a large selection of food and drink on the Menu. Staff are OK, very speedy, but little privacy when quiet. Well priced, not exceptional food, however edible and will definitely go the extra mile to meet your requirements. Toilets could use a Update and also it is very cold inside. Maybe charge 2 euros more and turn the heating on for a while. Danke und Prost!
Really good food. Pizza is made in a brick oven, Cordon Bleu is the best I've had in Germany. Staff is very friendly and speak English. Prices are fair as well.
Good place and speak English
Pretty nice place. Oberammergau is already a small place. But according to a small place, this style has beautiful places. Cordon Bleu can be tried. I think it's beautiful. Compared with Turkey it is very expensive but normal by Germany. I would recommend it to everyone. Very good place with a great atmosphere. People working in the restaurant are so kind. The meal was good. Cordon Bleu is adviced. Prices are normal compared to Germany.
Very tasty, also unusual pizza variations. Very friendly hosts. Gladly again. And insider tip: take as dessert the "sweet pizza" dare you. Then you do not regret this.
Very good food and friendly staff that also speak English
Delicious pizza and potato soup. Very friendly.
Pizza, good Italian pizza Many choices of pizza or dough The staff is friendly The price is very reasonable The portions are very generous The atmosphere is perfect for a nice evening
Nice ice cream here
Awesome pizza
The Wanninger pizza- yup! Tasty toppings on that stone fired crust.
Great soup reasonably priced. Good service
Good value and service. Really enjoyed the mushroom soup. Yum!
Amazing location !Great high quality pizza and friendly staff
Great food, both local and Italian. Very affordable prices.
Okay
Wonderful atmosphere. Pleasant staff and delicious food. Good prices, why wouldn't you give them five stars. Highly recommended and would come back again.
Not outstanding food, but good place for a basic, economic pizza, pasta or salad to take a break during a trip. Great for kids/teens.
Friendly staff, good pizza
Terrible slow service, limited menu during the day (no pizza) and didn't accept cards.
Our meal at the Wanninger was one of the high-points of our visit to Oberammergau. On a rainy Thursday night our party of 3 came a few mintues before closing fully expected to be turned away, especially since the restaurant was empty. But the host graciously invited us in and made us feel right at home. We ordered 3 different entrees and where blown away by how good it was. The fresh fried trout was unbelievably good. Moist, perfectly breaded, and artfully presented. Schnitzel and sauerbraten were fantastic. I know they feature pizza, but this is not a typical pizza joint. These folks served us way past closing time with no hint of impatience. I'm already making plans to return, and the Wanninger is on the top of the must-do list. I'm hoping those that had a less positive experience just hit them on a rare occasion. Really, give them a try and order the trout!. If on a Thursday, after your dinnet, head on over ot the Berns'l for their blues jam. Perfect night in a magical town.
AVOID! The food was dry and lukewarm. We ordered side dishes, but the staff forgot them. It didn't seem like the staff knew what was on the menu as we had to point it out for the waiter. The "draft" beer wasn't cold. The Italian food was good, but the German food wasn't so much so. The staff didn't seem like they were fluent German speakers either.
Nice place, fine service and good tasty food
AVOID. Especially if you are a woman. The staff were shockingly rude! Unbelievably so. Didn't even stay for a meal, as we asked for a little bit of time to look over the menu and were met with an eyeroll. Then, when ordering drinks, it was the same thing and were snapped at and ridiculed for asking what sort of beer they had. Never have left a restaurant after I've already sat down, but ran out of here.
